Canton Lutheran Church mission of the month, Canton SD. January 17 - 18, 2009
Pacodes Directors, Machien J. Luoi and Gatkier Machar were invited to present on Pacodes and its Library project to the Canton Lutheran Church congregation. They were joined by Gonyang R. Ng,anoah, a Panyijiar community member and the three presented the Pacodes' vision and the library project to the church members. The congregation had selected Pacodes' library project as their mission of the month. all January 20009 mission of the month donations from individuals and organizations affiliated with the church will go to Pacodes. Thanks to MD. Margaret Devick, a Pacodes Board and Canton Lutheran Church member for connecting Pacodes to the Canton SD community.
Pacodes to Participate in Communiversity - Feb. 8th, 2009
Pacodes will take part in the Fargo - Moorhead community film events on February 8, 2009. Communiversity is an annual event that showcases local community filming and advocacy activities. Pacodes 20 minute piece of the ongoing documentary on the Library project will be shown be shown by the Endless Eye crew.
Cobbers for Pacodes
This January, Concordia College in Moorhead MN students formed a Pacodes' student organization. With help of Dr. Roy Hammerling and Dr. Joan Kopperud they founded the Cobbers for Pacodes. The organization has its own student leadership and constitution as required by the school guidelines. The Cobbers for Pacodes will assist with book drives, fund-raising and dissemination information to help Pacodes and the library project succeed. The organization is the first of its kind. With Cobbers for Pacodes' we hope to start more student organizations up in the local universities including North Dakota States University (NDSU), and Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). Cobbers for Pacodes are currently running a change drive fund-raising on campus at Concordia College and will throughout the semester look for opportunities to inspire friends, classmates and friends to join this just cause. Trip to Southern Sudan April 11 - 30, 2009
This spring Pacodes - Director Machien J. Luoi will travel to Panyijiar County, Unity State - Southern Sudan. Also going in the same trip are Jeremiah Hammerling, Sean Fahey and Tom Clayton of the Endless Eye Film Production. The team is going on more fact finding mission to the county, film some parts of the documentary "Sudan's Library Project," and to help start the brick and block making process of the Library project. The trip will begin on April 11, 2009. The team will spend two to three weeks in Panyijiar County and will return to the United States at the end of April, 2009.
